New Mexico Conference Of Churches Commemorates 500th Anniversary of Reformation

The New Mexico Conference of Churches (NMCC) has invited all residents of the state to attend a commemoration of the 500th anniversary of the Reformation 2:30-5 p.m., Sunday, Oct. 29 at St. John’s United Methodist Church in Albuquerque.

The theme of the ecumenical vesper service of song and prayer is “One Body – Many Members, One Spirit, Many Gifts” and it will be followed by a community dialogue.

A mass choir will gather at the service under the direction of Fabian Yanez, director of the Office of Worship of the Archdiocese of Santa Fe, to sing the world premiere of an anthem composed for the occasion by Jeff Jolly, music director of Covenant Presbyterian Church of Albuquerue.

Church leaders in attendance include:

  • Most Rev. John C. Wester, Archdiocese of Santa Fe, Roman Catholic Church;
  • Right Rev. Michael L. Vono, Diocese of the Rio Grande, The Episcopal Church;
  • Rev. Randall W. Partin, New Mexico Conference, The United Methodist Church;
  • Elder Brian Beck, Presbytery of Santa Fe, Presbyterian Church USA;
  • Rev. Allan Bjornberg, Rocky Mountain Synod, Evangelical Lutheran Church in America;
  • Rev. Sharon Littrell, Southwest Conference, United Church of Christ; and
  • Ruling Elder Conrad M. Rocha, Synod of the Southwest, Presbyterian Church USA.
