Historic Japan Travel Update
Monday, Sept. 25 at 4 p.m. in the Pajarito Room, Fuller Lodge

Join Los Alamos History Museum Director Judith Stauber and Historical Society Board Member Michael Redondo to hear stories and enjoy photographs of their August 2017 visit to Japan to attend the prominent memorial ceremonies in Hiroshima Aug. 6 and in Nagasaki Aug. 9. In historic meetings with their Japanese museum counterparts, Stauber and Redondo presented a proclamation of understanding from Los Alamos County to the cities of Hiroshima and Nagasaki. The History Museum team visited with several project partners, toured the museums and memorial sites, participated in the Mayors for Peace conference held in Nagasaki, and delivered more than 1,300 origami cranes, hand-folded in Los Alamos, to museums in Hiroshima and Nagasaki.

The Los Alamos/Japan Project is a local and global effort to build a bridge of understanding between museum communities in Los Alamos, Hiroshima, and Nagasaki. Across our shared history we intend to illuminate multiple perspectives and various voices—scientists and survivors alike. For more information contact Los Alamos/Japan Project Founder and Los Alamos History Museum Director Judith Stauber at Judith@losalamoshistory.org.
