Feed Your Soul at 'Schubertiad' Benefit Concert

Staff report
The public is invited to attend a Benefit Concert for the Los Alamos Arts Council at 4 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 7 at Fuller Lodge.
The event is called a "Schubertiad." These parties were popular as Franz Schubert was writing 1,200 pieces in his 31 years.
Weekly, his friends gathered with him to play the music he wrote during that week.
Oct. 7 Performers Include:
Mezzo Soprano: Alicia Solomon
Pianists: Claudia Hilko, Juanita Madland, Susan Mendel
Tickets: $20 and $5 for ages 12 and under (at the door)
Schubert hardly performed because he was so busy churning out music ... but his "spirit" will be among us as we converse with him about his singing Lieder and piano compositions.
And as he said: "I wake up; I work on a composition until I'm through with it. Then I start another. That's what I do all day."
The Oct. 7 event is the first of three Schubertiads.
The audience is invited to converse with the performers over refreshments.
