Three Seats, Six Candidates, Who Will Best Serve Los Alamos...

The Los Alamos Daily Post is sponsoring a County Council Candidates Forum live from 6-7:30 p.m. today on PAC 8 television (Comcast Cable Channel 8 and streamed online at www.pac8.org.)

The 90-minute Forum is designed to introduce the community to the six candidates running for the three seats coming vacant at the end of this year.  

Marc Clay, Vincent Chiravalle, Kristin Henderson, Ken Johnson, Pete Sheehey and Roger Waterman will speak about their backgrounds, experience and motivations for seeking such an important position in County government.

Tune into PAC 8 (on Comcast cable TV channel 8 or online) 6-7:30 p.m., Thursday May 3 for the live "Los Alamos Daily Post - Los Alamos County Council Candidates Forum."

All six council candidates, including Pete Sheehey, Ken Johnson, Kristin Henderson, Marc Clay, Vincent Chiravalle and Roger Waterman will answer questions on a range of critical topics. 

This forum will afford local citizens an opportunity to learn where each candidate stands on the issues.

Los Alamos GOP County Quadrennial Convention Set for May 17

GOP News:

Call is hereby made for the 2012 Quadrennial Los Alamos Republican Convention on Thursday, May 2012, at the Los Alamos VFW, 1793 Deacon St., and for a Los Alamos Central Committee meeting to be held at 7 p.m., immediately preceding the Convention.

Registration begins at 6:30 p.m. and doors close promptly at 7 p.m.

All registered Republicans are invited to attend.

The Los Alamos County Central Committee Meeting will start at 7 p.m.

Immediately following, Ward Caucuses will be held to elect ward delegates to the County Quadrennial Convention.

Local GOP Meets Thursday

The monthly Los Alamos County GOP meeting will be held at 7 p.m. April 19 in the third floor conference room of the Hill Top House Hotel.

The topics of the meeting will be the new Los Alamos County polling places, Voter Registration training and meeting the GOP candidates running for local offices.

All registered Republicans are invited to attend.

'Common Sense Still Applies'

It's presidential election season and the rhetoric is ratcheting up. And because of that, it's important to get the facts and know exactly what the record is.

 

Far less important is what's being said ... especially on the campaign trail.

 

Our president was out on the campaign trail last week on a so called "energy tou.r."

 

He even stopped in New Mexico, where he traveled to the tiny oil town of Maljamar to tout his accomplishments ... a slick political move because no one would expect a big crowd.

 

Had he gone elsewhere, the reception would've likely been rougher because the

Editor’s Note: This is the first in a series of six County Council candidate profiles.

Scientist Peter T. (Pete) Sheehey describes his career at Los Alamos National Laboratory as satisfying but said that he was in a financial position that enables him to accept the Laboratory’s Voluntary Separation Program – “leaving room for younger scientists.” His final day at LANL is April 5.

“This allows me to offer my time and skills to making our government work better for the people of Los Alamos,” said Sheehey who filed to place his name on the June 5 Democratic primary election
