Come to PEEC to extract honey from our local beehive! As a conclusion to our beekeeping class this year we will demonstrated how to remove frames, de-cap the honey cells and use the centrifuge to extract this liquid gold. If time permits we can filter and bottle some. All present will surely get a taste of this wonderful product. All interested are encouraged to attend; this workshop is not limited to beekeeping students.
Leonora Curtin Wetlands Preserve Fall Outing 12 to 4 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 21
Join Natali Steinberg for an afternoon at the Santa Fe Botanical Garden. “Leonora Curtin Wetland Preserve is a 35-acre preserve adjacent to El Rancho de las Golondrinas in La Cienega. This rare natural cienega (marsh in Spanish) hosts a bountiful diversity of plants and wildlife. A nature trail winds through an open meadow and under gnarled forty-year-old cottonwoods to a cattail fringed pond while a second trail tours the more arid upland area where yucca and cactus thrive,” www.santafebotanicalgarden.org. Meet at PEEC at noon. This is a free field trip, but space is limited, so please register in advance.
