COURT News:

Christine Trujillo, 51, of Espanola faces preliminary hearings Dec. 22 in Los Alamos Magistrate Court in connection with two November shoplifting incidents at Smith’s Marketplace.

Court records indicate that in the first case, on Nov. 3, Trujillo was observed on security cameras as she allegedly entered the store, proceeded to the meat department, selected several items and eventually exited the store passing all open and operating checkout registers without paying for the items. A witness reported seeing Trujillo get into a vehicle in the parking lot and the license plate number was traced to Trujillo.

An arrest warrant was requested by Sgt. Tim Lonz and signed by Judge Pat Casados. Trujillo is charged with shoplifting more than $500 and less than $2,500.

In the second incident, on Nov. 18, Trujillo was again allegedly caught on video leaving the store with a grocery cart full of items for which she did not pay. During an interview with Det. Sgt. James Rodriguez, Trujillo admitted to taking the items, which had an estimated value of $810. She was handed a second charge of shoplifting more than $500 and less than $2,500.
