Breaking News: Accident with Fatality Near White Rock ‘Y’
Updated 6:30 p.m.

Staff Report
N.M. 4 near the White Rock “Y” is closed due to a two car accident. Police report that a teen has died. An adult female driving one vehicle, a passenger and the male driver of the second vehicle have all been transported to Los Alamos Medical Center with injuries, according to police.
Los Alamos Deputy Police Chief Randy Foster told the Los Alamos Daily Post that a small four door sedan collided head on with a red Toyota pickup near the sweeping turn just west of the White Rock "Y" on N.M. 4 a short while ago today.
Foster said the pickup rolled over and it is not clear at this time if the other car did as well. However, both vehicles ended up off the embankment.
"For these vehicles to hit head on one of them had to have crossed the double yellow line on the roadway," Foster said.
Santa Fe County is sending in their fatal crash team to investigate the cause of this fatal accident, Foster said, adding that the road will be shut down for hours.
Traffic is currently heavy but flowing down the Main Hill. Check back for continuing coverage on this developing story.
Those wishing to drive to White Rock are advised to drive to Los Alamos and then take the truck route down to White Rock.
