New Mexico Environment Department Settles Case With ETC Texas Pipeline

SANTA FE — The New Mexico Environment Department (NMED) entered into a settlement agreement and stipulated final compliance order with ETC Texas Pipeline, Ltd. (ETC) to resolve alleged statutory, regulatory and permit violations at the company’s Jal No. 3 Gas Plant near Jal.

NMED cited ETC for illegally emitting more than 3.1 million pounds of pollutants, including nitrogen oxides, carbon monoxide, volatile organic compounds, sulfur dioxide and hydrogen sulfide between Jan. 1, 2017 and Aug. 31, 2018. NPA: Postage Rate Increase Goes Into Effect Aug. 29

The U.S. Postal Service will raise postage rates Aug. 29, after the U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit denied a petition by National Newspaper Association (NNA), News Media Alliance and others to put a hold on it.

The Court simply issued a statement that the petition was denied, without providing any reasoning for the decision. NNA and others had argued that the Postal Regulatory Commission’s decision to authorize the increase by USPS was flawed and that the rate increase should be delayed until the Court decides whether the PRC was correct. Final 2021 Summer Concert: Santana Tribute Band Smooth

Santana tribute band Smooth performs Friday for the final concert of the 2021 Los Alamos Summer Concert Series presented by Toyota of Santa Fe.

The concert is co-sponsored by SMSI and Merrick. Española Latino band Divino will perform at 6:30 p.m.  as the opening band. The Santa Fe Youth Symphony Association will perform as the student opening act and the Family YMCA will conduct pre-concert Zumba dance warm-ups. The fun starts at 5:45 p.m.
