Earth Care, Area Leaders Info Session On Environmental Injustice In Santa Fe’s Southside Communities Tuesday

Earth Care and community leaders have led a challenge to air quality permits issued to polluting companies on Santa Fe’s Southside area, which is a densely populated area of predominantly low-income/immigrant people of color.

A coalition of local residents and families called the Santa Fe Southside Environmental Justice Coalition has appealed NMED’s decision, which resulted in an Environmental Improvement Board hearing in February.

New Mexico’s Unemployment Rate 5.3 Percent In March

The New Mexico Department of Workforce Solutions (NMDWS) has announced that New Mexico’s seasonally adjusted unemployment rate was 5.3 percent in March, down from 5.6 percent in February and down from 7.2 percent in the previous year.

The national unemployment rate in March was 3.6 percent, down from 3.8 percent in February and down from 6.0 percent in March 2021.

Total nonagricultural payroll employment grew by 48,300 jobs, or 6.1 percent, between March 2021 and March 2022. The majority of gains came from the private sector, which was up 43,500 jobs, or 7.0 percent. The public sector Read More
