In a special Science On Screen event presented by The Lensic Performing Arts Center, The Center for Contemporary Arts and Santa Fe Institute, special guests physicist Geoffrey West and director Mark Levinson introduce the hit documentary film “Particle Fever,” the story of the machine and the people who sought, and found, the long-predicted but elusive Higgs boson, popularly known as “the God particle.”

Glenn Randall Will Present Landscape Photography Workshop

The Los Alamos Photography Club and the Los Alamos Adobe Users Group are sponsoring a one day workshop by landscape photographer Glenn Randall 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, April 12 upstairs at Fuller Lodge Art Center. The cost is $70.

Award-winning Los Alamos authors Shirley Raye Redmond and Jennifer McKerley will offer a half-day workshop for the Southwest Writers organization 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 8 at the Carlisle Executive Offices, 3200 Carlisle Blvd. NE, Suite 114 in Albuquerque.
Using the method explained in their workbook, “Write Marketable Children’s Book in 7 Weeks,” Redmond and McKerley have sold dozens of children’s books to major publishers, including Random House and Simon & Schuster.

Fourth Annual UNM-LA Music Marathon Raises Money for Scholarships

The results are in and the Fourth Annual UNM-LA Music Marathon, held Sunday Jan. 19, raised nearly $900 to benefit the student scholarship fund at the community college. Fifty-four performers from both in and out of town entertained an audience of over one hundred who attended the 7-hour event in the Student Center on the UNM-LA campus.

This Friday, Jan. 24, we will be opening Lone Survivor. Sorry you’ve had to wait for it, but as much as we tried, Universal wouldn’t give it to us on the break. As I’ve said before, if it’s a great movie it may take some time but there’s no need to go off the hill. We will bring the films to you.
