The public is cordially invited to attend a free recital of outstanding young pianists who are the winners of the Professional Music Teachers of New Mexico (PMTNM) annual District Honors Competition.

The free recital is 3 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 3, at Crossroads Bible Church on East Road. The day-long Piano Competition that proceeds the concert is Friday, Oct. 2 on the UNM-LA campus.

Concordia Santa Fe’s Wind Orchestra presents “At the Museum,” a program featuring the latest wind arrangement of Modest Mussorgsky’s Pictures at an Exhibition.

Oct. 16-18 is Art Weekend in Los Alamos! Both the 2015 Los Alamos Studio Tour and the Gateway to the Holidays Arts and Crafts Fair will take place that weekend. The Los Alamos Daily Post is featuring artists from both events leading up to the Tour and Fair.

The 2015 Studio Tour is 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 17 and 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 18. There will be an artists’ reception 5-6 p.m. Friday, Oct. 16. Samples of all artists’ work will be on display throughout the weekend in the Pajarito Room at historic Fuller Lodge. Read More

The Los Alamos Light Opera presents “Mel Brooks’ Young Frankenstein”, a ‘monster’ of a show directed and choreographed by Patrick MacDonald and musically directed by Gretchen Amstutz.

Everything about the show is monstrous- the ambitious set, the cast of millions (50), and 100 costumes! The impressive set was designed and created by Holly Haas, set designer. Dave Olivas, master carpenter, built the set with the help of many dedicated volunteers. Read More
